What does meditation bring up for you? You might be thinking of a monk sitting in lotus position under a tree, and you might be comparing it to you last efforts at meditating in which you were face with the chaos inside your mind and concluded that you just can’t meditate.
Both of these are ways of looking at meditation and in other posts, I will go into more depth about what mediation can “Look” like and how to bring it into your life in a consistent and practical way.
For today, I am going to share with you three reasons why meditation is important. There are many more, I guarantee, but these are the three that come to mind for me immediately.
- Stress reduction – studies have shown that meditation can reduce blood pressure and other stress markers in the body
- Mind clarity – meditation can help you clear your mind. It might not seem like it at first, but even a few minutes of deep breathing with your eyes closed can calm some of the thoughts enough to gain a little clarity.
- Life Guidance – By going within through meditation consistently, you can then use that time to get clear on where you want to go, and from there, what you next small step is.
So, as you can see even if these were the only three benefits of meditation, why wouldn’t you want to start practicing today? Let me know in the comments below…
one of my fabourite topics. thanks
Starting in October, I am on a 90-Day Challenge to finish up the year strong. One of the things on my daily task list is meditation. So far, so good! Each day I have been meditating via a guided meditation (on some days, not all) using one of the apps on my iPhone.
So far… Thumbs up!
Good job, Paul!!!
Yes! Life guidance is such a great element to call out. I don’t see that listed often for reasons to meditate. You are so spot on. It is super helpful with that (and all other things ;-P)
Meditation is a wonderful tool to help with stress and anxiety. I started meditating a week ago and have noticed a major difference in myself as a whole. Awesome post, thank you!
So, I don’t meditate- but I do pray each morning. It works out about the same.
Yes, it absolutely does!
